Testimonials Massage Therapy
"As a professional netballer, my weekly massages have become an essential part of my recovery from training and games. During the season Hans has used a mixture of massage and manual lymphatic drainage for injuries, enabling me to recover quickly from sprained ankles, haematomes and general niggles from the fast paced, high impact game of nettball.
Thanks to Hans' work I was able to play every week. Although my time on the table is not always relaxing, I always leave with aches and pain either totally gone, or at least, significantly reduced. I would recommend massage therapy for any sports person who is training hard and looking to get the best performance from their body."

"Massage, at Hands On, was initially recommended to me by a friend. My body had succummed to the effects of a long list of injuries from serious bike crashes. It had got to a stage where I was struggling to ride more than 10 minutes without pain, suffering numbness in my legs and lower back. At Hands On they took great care in assessing exatly what was wrong and what they could do to improve my situation. After two visits my pain-free rides had gone from 10 minutes to an hour, and have continued to impove to a level where I am able to race competitively again.
As my ability to ride long distances has increased, my visits have changed from injury treatment to injury prevention. I've also found regular massages have improved my muscle recovery remarkably, enabling me to get the most out of my body."

" I first started suffering from shin splints three years ago and as a fast bowler striving to play for my country my legs are an essential part of my sporting life. I first visited the Hands On Clinic two years ago. Hans and his team have been fantastic in setting up an ongoing schedule to stay on top of my injury. They have gone out of their for me countless times to get me through tournaments and nothing was ever a problem. I know in the Hands On Team I have a truly professional support system. They have been my key to staying injury free."Matt Farrant

"I am a cyclist competing at an Elite level in New Zealand. This is a hard level to compete at, especially after three operations of constructive surgery of both of my hips. Hans and his team have helped me at no end. If I did not see him regularly, I would not be able to race in the events I compete in. Simple as that. It has very much been a journey over the past couple of years, but we have come a long way in that time, which considering the circumstances, is very fast!It is essential for me to focus just as much on recovery as it is with my training, if not more so for my condition. The therapy "Hands On" provide me each week is crucial to keep my hips mobile, to aid recovery for my muscles and to improve circulation for both the mobility and recovery to take place."

"As an athlete being able to perform at my best week in, week out is crucial. I have been seeing Hans at Hands On Massage and Lymphaticson a regular basis for the last three years. During the season I have weekly maintenance with Hans, which I find helps prevent and manage niggles and also assist with my recovery. Hans and Lejorben organised regular massage schedule for me so that it worked in with my weekly training programme.
During the 2010 ANZ Championship season I did not miss a game and I found that the massage helped reduce fatigue. In previous years if I have had injuries Hans and his team have helped me to get back on court as quickly as possible. Hands On Massage and Lymphatics are incredibly professional and I have total peace of mind knowing that I have someone there to back me up."

"I was referred to Hans initially to treat a recurring ITB problem. He had me back training in no time and I then saw him weekly as part of my preparation for my first Ironman, in March 2009 in Taupo. As my training volume increased so too did the niggling aches and pains. However, as a result of seeing Hans on a weekly basis I did not miss one training session due to injury throughout my entire preparation.
He always listened to what training I had done and what sensations I had experienced and then treated me accordingly. His mannerism is always very calming and confidence building - which I needed!! I have no doubt I would not have made the start line of Ironman New Zealand - let alone finished it and enjoyed it - had I not seen Hans on a regular basis. I have recommended several friends and family members to him and will continue to do so."

"Four months ago and needing relief from a rotator cuff problem, I saw my G.P, who suggested a letter to a surgeon. The thought of which I found upsetting, to say the least! On the advice of a Physiotherapist, I tentatively booked to see a Massage Practitioner at SportsMed.
Hans instantly 'put me at ease' as he discussed/explained and commenced treatment. Relief was evident after the first couple of sessions and with Hans's gentle, professional treatment, I now have a greatly improved range of movement and freedom of pain.
As a former nurse, interested in the 'holistic' approach, and as a current maintenance client of Hans, I am acutely aware of the benefits of trying a natural method, before surgery is performed. My hope for the near future, would be that doctors will 'see it as a necessity' to recommend therapeutic massage as a 'first line' treatment before that "surgery" word is mentioned.
I am ecstatic to have avoided surgery and even the cortisone injection."
